ECOS manufacturers the world’s largest range of premium quality, sustainably certified coatings, which have been tried and tested for over twenty five years. With a unique chemistry (not just a modified traditional formulation) and using only the highest quality ingredients, ECOS paints provide better coverage (1.5x) adhesion and durability than traditional products. Easy to apply, and quick drying, without the high levels of off gassing associated with traditional products, mean that jobs can be completed faster, more cost effectively and with improved comfort for employees, guests, patients and visitors. All products have the same environmental pedigree and technical performance. Colors are applied only in the factory, against specific drawdowns or retained samples, so customers can expect that the perfect color is delivered every time - even to multiple locations in a corporate footprint.

The Health Product Declaration®

The HPD Open Standard provides a consistent, and transparent format to accurately disclose the material contents, and associated health information of a building product.

How it works Material ingredients are screened and categorized according to the hazards that international governmental bodies and toxicology experts have associated with them, based on two listings:

  • Authoritative lists, which are maintained or recognized by government bodies
  • Screening lists, which include chemicals that government bodies determined need further scrutiny, as well as chemical lists not recognized by any government body.

Declare

Declare labels are issued to products disclosing ingredient inventory, sourcing and end of life options. Declare labels are based on the Manufacturers Guide to Declare, administered by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI).

How it works Material ingredients are inventoried and screened against the Living Building Challenge (LBC) Red List which represents the 'worst in class' materials, chemicals, and elements known to pose serious risks to human health and the greater ecosystem. The Declare product database and label are then used to select products that meet the Living Building Challenge's stringent materials requirements, streamlining the materials specification and certification process.

Declare level Red List Free means that a product does not contain any of the Red List materials identified by the ILFI.

Customers are telling us

Chemical Sensitivity Friendly: After using a traditional low VOC paint I was unable to go into our bedroom. After removing all painted surfaces, drywall and ceilings I'm thrilled to find a paint that does not cause a severe allergic reaction.

After 21 months, I finally will be able to sleep in the master bedroom again. Don't believe anyone that says, "It will air out". If you have severe chemical allergies such as formaldehyde remove your exposure and start over with a quality paint such as ECOS – Kent

Excellent: Yesterday my painter used ECOS paint on my porch and it is fabulous. The sheen and the color resonance is so superior to the traditional paints that I've been using in the past. I wish I had tried your paints before I painted my new home interior. But I will use your paints in the future. – Morgne

Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's continental crust. It is considered carcinogenic if inhaled in dust form. In a liquid (or dried) coating, quartz is not in a dust form.

Amorphous silica is an inorganic material commonly used in semiconductor circuits. In the form of crystalline silica dust, it is associated with an increased risk for pulmonary diseases and lung cancer if inhaled. In a liquid (or dried) coating, amorphous silica is not in a dust form.

Titanium Dioxide has been classified as possibly carcinogenic to humans if inhaled in the form of ultrafine dust. In a liquid (or dried) coating, titanium dioxide is not in a dust form.

Foam control agent. This refined petroleum derivative carries the same CAS# as unrefined petroleum derivatives, which can have carcinogenic properties. Vaseline is an example of a highly refined petroleum derivative in which the carcinogenic properties have been removed.

The school faculty determined that the optimal time to repaint their facility was during term, just before the final week of school. The premises would still be occupied by the children, so special paint would be needed.

– Morgne
