Woodshield Stain and Varnish

Clear Gloss Varnish

Clear Satin Varnish

Interior Stain

Traditional varnishes (polyurethane) and stains typically contain more than 250g/l of VOCs and have harsh chemical odors that can take several days to dissipate, often requiring the renovated area to be vacated for the entire time. In contrast, ECOS varnishes and stains are a pleasure to work with. Using a unique technology and only the finest ingredients, ECOS varnishes and stains provide a durable, premium quality finish, without the major impact to indoor air quality common with traditional products.

Available in a variety of sheens and multiple colors ECOS varnishes and stains can be applied just like traditional products (brush, roller, and spray) drying quickly so that renovations can be completed competitively. As a result, indoor spaces can be reoccupied as soon as the job has been completed. Successful projects range from elevator renovations in a Las Vegas hotel to service counter repairs in a food store.

The Health Product Declaration®

The HPD Open Standard provides a consistent, and transparent format to accurately disclose the material contents, and associated health information of a building product.

How it works Material ingredients are screened and categorized according to the hazards that international governmental bodies and toxicology experts have associated with them, based on two listings:

  • Authoritative lists, which are maintained or recognized by government bodies
  • Screening lists, which include chemicals that government bodies determined need further scrutiny, as well as chemical lists not recognized by any government body.

Declare

Declare labels are issued to products disclosing ingredient inventory, sourcing and end of life options. Declare labels are based on the Manufacturers Guide to Declare, administered by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI).

How it works Material ingredients are inventoried and screened against the Living Building Challenge (LBC) Red List which represents the 'worst in class' materials, chemicals, and elements known to pose serious risks to human health and the greater ecosystem. The Declare product database and label are then used to select products that meet the Living Building Challenge's stringent materials requirements, streamlining the materials specification and certification process.

Declare level Red List Free means that a product does not contain any of the Red List materials identified by the ILFI.

Customers are telling us

Quality products, zero VOCs, great service: “I have used your stain and varnish products multiple times as a professional woodworker, and found these to be of excellent quality and very user-friendly. Quick dry time is an added benefit.” – Joseph

Very High Quality Product: “I re-finish furniture. The smells of oil base have been dreadful. Then the overnight wait to top coat. Gumming of the sand paper as well. This ECOS goes on milky indicating how much your applying, then dries crystal clear. Sands beautifully after two hours. I am able to apply 3-4 coats in a day. This enables me to finish a piece in 24 hours. There is no odor whatsoever. The final produce is amazing and I recommend it to anyone who is tired of the mess, smell of oil base finishes.” – Tom
