Team

Terry Swack, Founder & CEO

Terry is an Internet and environmental entrepreneur, a pioneer in customer experience strategy and design and a thought leader in the product sustainability software industry. In 2005, she founded and served as CEO of The Beam and GreenBuildingBlocks.com, a Web 2.0 marketplace for consumers, manufacturers, and green building professionals to power the demand for clean and green products and services. In 2002, Terry served as a founding management team member of network security software company StillSecure. Co-leading the product teams, they brought three best-of-breed products to market in 18 months. Her first company TSDesign, an Internet strategy and product design firm, was acquired in 1999 by Razorfish, a global digital services provider.

Greg Canavera, Co-founder & Director, Software Design

Greg brings 17 years of experience designing Web-based software and large-scale Web sites. He has extensive experience with start-ups and early-stage product design, designing great products right from the start. His multidisciplinary skill-set includes product strategy, interaction design, information architecture, visual design and branding. Previous experience includes positions with The Beam and GreenBuildingBlocks.com, StillSecure, Razorfish and TSDesign.

Joep Meijer, LCA Technical Expert

Joep is an expert in quantifying environmental performance using life cycle thinking and life cycle assessment methodologies. Joep has performed LCAs for over 300 products, has worked for all major building materials and branch associations in Europe, and has developed tools for European DOT's for sustainable design and purchasing. He has 20 years of experience providing LCA studies to manufacturers, material suppliers, individual producers, associations and standardization bodies in Europe and North America. Joep has drafted national standards for environmental product declarations (EPD) and has developed 25+ tools for specific sectors of industry. Joep is a graduate of the University of Nijmegen in environmental chemistry.

Bernard Gilbert, Director, Development

Bernard is an accomplished executive who brings over 25 years of experience in the fields of business operations, software development, data storage, engineering services working with early-stage companies as well as small and medium sizes companies. Previously, Bernard was CEO of IBRIX, Inc., a leading provider of scalable data storage solutions; and CEO of ZAiQ Technologies, a national Engineering Services company recognized as the leader in re-targetable verification. Bernard has also held senior management positions in the Network Storage division of Sun Microsystems, Inc.

Millali Marcano, Product & Project Management, SM Transparency Products

Millali is a materials engineer with experience in supply chain management, product design and manufacturing. Previously, she worked as a project engineer for a mechanical devices manufacturer managing the development of new electric actuators for multi-turn valves. For Sustainable Minds, Millali is a technical project manager for Transparency Product projects involving LCA and material health evaluations. She conducts market and methodological research and oversees the development of the SM Material Health Overview. Millali is a graduate of Universidad Simon Bolivar and Tufts University in Materials Engineering and Engineering Management.

Kim Lewis, LCA Analyst & SM Transparency Report Program Coordinator

Kim is a life cycle assessment practitioner with experience in program management working with manufacturers, material suppliers, industry groups and standardization bodies. Previously, she worked as an LCA analyst for 3M performing data collection, modeling, and reporting. For Sustainable Minds, Kim coordinates the SM Transparency Report Program, a 2-part PCR framework designed to meet the scaling demand for environmental performance reporting. She also oversees the creation of SM Transparency Reports, which present both functional and environmental performance information, make LCA results understandable, and enable manufacturers to describe how they are making products greener all in a concise 3-page format.
